Sandwiches (especially like the one you posted above) are delicious!
Carbs certainly do help when lifting heavy weights or really trying to move the progressive overload needle forward.

I agree, sandwiches are my favorite food!!! I'm just starting to re-introduce carbs back into my diet after some time off them, it's definitely a differentiator in my lifts!
