Unfortunately not. I’ll be there the week before and, because I’m planning a trip back to the States later in the year, I can spare any more vacation time to go back to Tokyo. Plus, I’d have to miss classes at the same schools and it wouldn’t look good.
I can’t decide if it’s one of those huge opportunities I shouldn’t miss or not, but my gut isn’t telling me that I have to make it happen no matter what, so ...
Well, the nice thing about Japan is you can hop the shinkansen and be anywhere in a few hours. Day trip.

Cool contest. How does the number get chosen? What do the texts say on the image with the board?
Well, in a way, it’s kind of like a connect the dots. I draw a bunch of lines that transect the main vertical lines. These horizontal lines can’t connect from lines one to two to three. Then, I trace the lines downward. Every time they connect with a horizontal line, they must take that new line.
You can see here. Each line has only one possible answer.
As for the text, they have shrine names on them and messages to purify the space they are attached to.
