Gaming Dystopia.. Call of Duty goes Full 1984 & Spies on Users!

in #game11 days ago

Millions of gamers around the world Have been fixated on the Call of Duty series for years now. Likely the most popular first person shooter game of all time according to sales figures, initially the Call of Duty series was groundbreaking, before slowly becoming completely yearly copy/paste cash grab chalked full of microtransactions and flamboyant (for lack of a better term) skins and costumes for the player character..

Now while I understand why game developers may want to spy on users actions & systems for operations like anti-cheat.. But, the shit that Activision is allowing goes beyond simple anti-cheat functions and goes as far as to access a users webcam to try and determine their mood and focus among other quite intrusive things.

Needless to say I'm sharing this guys whistle blowing in hopes folks think twice about wasting more money on this yearly Activision cash grab slop..

Patent for a botnet. Hilarious

I think all devs at some point have that intrusive thought to use user computing power for their own means... but the fact these fucks are blatantly making botnets out of users machines and have it written into their ToS is mind blowing.

Dirty fucking pool!

The great thing to me is that there hasn't been a Call of Duty game that that I've played since the original Modern Warfare. CoD is just the annual Guitar Hero game of Activision of old, just with guns.

I played the originals.. but have no interest in the modern games... There isn't enouugh new features between releases to even warrant the purchase imo..

Especially now that I* know they are botnetting client PC's..
