Call themselves crows, birds representing flocks and humans working together as a group, modern civilization compared to north of the wall where they have no civilization.

(20) Vibrating flame. Literally, "a tongue of fire"

crystal wall. and there is a bit with a dragon and its tongue of fire. and they have watch fires on the wall.

book is called a story of ice and fire.

because the flood didn't wipe the watchers out they retained technology that allowed for civilization. Like the people south of the wall.

Azazel was a watcher that taught the people of the north technology.

and Azazyel was imprisoned. game of thrones has the same deal about not making friends of the people of the north, john eventually changes his mind, but the people in the game of thrones know not to share knowledge with them.

these 2 bastards destroy each other's armies in mutual slaughter. a part of the plot for game of thrones is that they wipe out all each others armies out and there will be nothing left when the dragon lady comes. mutual slaughter.

people south of the wall have tombs and saints, people north of the wall do not.

john is the rebel, angels mean watchers, john and his friends go to the north and kill people.

its the story of Ygritte going south of the wall, seeing technology religion. religion is a type of technology it binds people together so they can work as a group to build society. South of the wall is like heaven compared to the north. Enoch then took the technology of religion to bind the his people as a group.
