TL:DR; Epic Games has now confirmed that popular battle royale game, Fortnite is going to debut on mobile devices. Also, the game is now going to sport a new cross-platform play feature; which allows both mobile, PC and Xbox players to play against each other. This was announced by (who, where and when).
Fortnite, which is arguably the most popular battle royale game presently (take that, PUBG), is looking to expand its audience by adding mobile devices to its supported consoles. Consequently, it will debut on both the Google Play Store and iOS App Store (for Android and iOS respectively) very soon, to encourage enthusiasts who do not own consoles, or are ‘on the go’.
To top it off, Epic Games also announced that cross-platform play will now be implemented in the game, harmonising the online experience between iOS, Android, PC and Xbox.
Fortnite’s major rivals, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (developed by Korean publisher, BlueHole Inc) are yet to announce anything to this effect. It is possible; however that PUBG will also be released for mobile very soon. One thing is certain though, battle royale is now closer to everyone (even mobile-centric gamers like myself).
