At a recent conference Ubisoft in Montreal (Ubisoft Developer Conference), representatives of the company told about their artificial intelligence Commit Assistant. The creators of the project used the data accumulated over the past 10 years, trying to teach AI to foresee a probable oversight before its introduction into the game. To do this, the computer assistant was written an algorithm that allows to draw parallels between the correct and incorrect lines of code in the already released projects of Ubisoft.
In theory, developers do not have to spend too much time and effort on tracking bugs, because artificial intelligence will point to them in advance. The French publisher expects the assistant to save money on one of the most expensive aspects of development. On average, up to 70% of the production budget goes exactly to catch bugs.
However, the possibilities of AI are not limited to the search for errors, it is also used to create non-player characters. In Far Cry 5, for example, their actions rely on Maslow's pyramid of needs. Due to this, the inhabitants of the virtual world behave more naturally in different situations.
Project manager Yves Jacquier said that the team is in a positive embarrassment, why the idea of creating such AI did not come to them before.
