For 21 years Singapore's National Cricket Team has been training at Kallang.
For 21 years they've had to overcome a lack of funding, unsupportive sporting bodies, dismissive officials and worst of all, a lack of public interest.
Despite all that, they've managed to rise 15 places in the last 9 years to be ranked 24th in the world.
The sport that the ground is being reassigned for?
Football.
How is Singapore faring in that sport?
Well, the mens team just lost to a Japanese University team - http://goo.gl/tkNhAA
It's an absolute tragedy that the authorities have seen fit to strip the Singapore Cricket Association of their training ground and give them a smaller one in Farrer Park that won't be ready till September and is too small as per international regulations.
This has dealt a massive blow to the guys are preparing for the SEA Games, in which there is a great chance of them clinching the Gold due to being the 2nd ranked team in the region. Not only that, any international fixtures they had planned are going to have to be cancelled and probably never played again.
It's a disgrace.
But this is Singapore.
ahhhhh.. I feel so sorry. are you part of the national team? Keep on going! We need the never die spirit!
I don't think it's appropriate for me to say but I guess I can mention that I'm close enough to the set-up for this to hit me hard :(
Thanks for your concern and motivation!
