I recently came across a few blockchain based games currently in development in 2019 and this year looks very promising for the gaming sector of blockchain tech. The game that stood out to me the most is one you probably have heard, and if not, you should really check it out if you are into cyberpunk themes.
Neon District is a game being developed by Blockade Games, a decentralized game development studio that, in their own words...
"specializes in integrating blockchain and alternate reality components into puzzles and games to create experiences that transcend the digital world."
They've been working very hard on Neon District so far. Accomplishing 64% of it's development, according to the main website. Blockade Games describes Neon District as...
"A crafting strategy RPG set in a tech-noir landscape."
A recent clip of the games battle system has been released quite recently and gives turn-based RPG fans something to look forward to. It's also rumored that the battles will feature co-op multiplayer, with teams of friends strategizing together against bosses, reminiscent of older 2-player turn-based RPGs, like Earthbound and Final Fantasy 3.
The 3D modeling and animations look very clean, polished, and fluid. One would not suspect this to be backed by the same technology as bitcoin. That's because of the Loom Networks SDK, which ties together blockchain assets and transactions without sacrificing a immersive gaming experience. This game has me so excited for the future of blockchain gaming that I am trying to spread the word about their "Founders Key" Sale.
