I have recently purchased AMD XFX R9 380 4GB, the challenge im facing is the Windows crashing, showing a black or Dark grey screen just moments after booting. The PC continues running. Any Fix suggestions
My Specs
OS - Windows 8.1
GPU- (AMD) XFX 9 380 4GB
GPU TEMP - 60 °C- 65 °C
Drivers - Crimson 16.7.2
Core i7 - 3770
8GB RAM
2TB HDD
PSU - Corsair RM1000
I've run a lot of cards in my time - had a huge number for mining. If this is happening there are a few things to try.
Sounds like your PSU is 1000W? Is that correct. Should be enough to run pretty much any card if that is the case but sure that the power supply cables are properly plugged in to you card and it is properly seated.
Also make sure that the fans are working and spinning up - a dead fan or blockage (e.g. insect- has happened to me a few times) in a fan can cause a major issue with overheating and crashes. Even a short fan malfunction can cause the hot parts of graphics card to be irretrievably burnt.
If that is all fine and it still doesn't work try taking the graphics card out and using the integrated motherboard graphics or another graphics card.
If this works then it suggests the problem is with the graphics card itself and I would get an exchange.
If you bought somewhere like Amazon contact customer support and they will send out a new ASAP (before you even return the faulty one).
Forgot to add: If after removing the card and using onboard graphics doesn't work, make sure your RAM and everything else on your motherboard (including CPU + cooler) are firmly attached. If you have another rig you can swap parts in and out to isolate what might be causing the problem.
Something else to look at, driver issues, you might look at uninstalling the drivers with the AMD driver uninstaller tool and reinstalling them.

Oh i read something on Tom's Hardware , the problem was drivers , the latest drivers were giving me challnges but installed old Catalyst drivers 15.14 , they work prefect. Thanks a lot for your contribution
