Today, I want to talk to you about this new card game I tried.
I like card games. When I was younger, I played Yu-Gi-Oh, both digitally and physically. I still have those cards, but I don't use them anymore. The latest card game that I played for more than one time was Hearthstone. It was fun for a while, but I eventually got frustrated by the game and quit. I've wanted to find another good card game for a while now, so today, I tried The Elder Scrolls: Legends.
The Elder Scrolls: Legends is a card game, based on the Elder Scrolls universe. You know, from Oblivion and Skyrim and the likes.
We start out, as usual, with a tutorial, which leads me through the basics of the game through a series of fights.
The atmosphere of the game is really appealing to me. It speaks to me more than the bright colors of Hearthstone do.
After every story combat that I win, I receive some rewards.
Many rewards are cards, but I guess that's to be expected in the beginning, because I need to build my deck. Later on, I receive some other rewards. I've gotten a title and I also gained some coins, with which you can buy card packs.
A lot of the game reminds me of Hearthstone. The overall play style is very similar and I guess that's why it all feels so natural to me. If you've played Hearthstone before, this game is pretty easy to get into.
There are some differences though. In this game, you have two seperate lanes where you can play your cards. Creatures can only attack enemies in their respective lanes. So when I play a guard in lane 1, enemies in lane 2 can still attack my hero.
These lanes can sometimes have special effects aswell. So far I've encountered a lane that makes all cards played there be unattackable in the first turn. And I've seen a lane that randomly blows over a card to the other lane at the end of a turn.
You can also level up and when you do, you get the option to upgrade one of your cards. These upgrades will make the card stronger, or add an extra effect to it. Sometimes the card switches functions completely, but you seem to always have two options to pick from, so you can make it your own.
Getting through the tutorial was a breeze. It was also a lot of fun. I really like the card styles and the gameplay.
When I went to build my own deck, I found out that cards fall into 5 seperate categories, which all have their own benefits: Strength, Agility, Intelligence, Endurance and Willpower. You can build a deck out of two of these categories, plus the neutral cards, so you need to think about what kind of deck you want, before putting it together.
So far, I really enjoyed the game and I'm sure I'll be playing it again!

I played this game at Paris Game Week 2 years before ! I had promotional and rare cards ! Mmh... Your taking fun ? What do you think comparatively to Hearthstone ?
Nice! I like it, it hasn't frustrated me yet, but then again, I haven't tried playing against others yet. I only did story mode so far.
Looks like a lot of fun, I'll have to try it out
Yeah, it's one of the more interesting card games I've tried (not that I've tried them all :-)).
This post really caught my eye. I play Elder Scrolls Online (eso) quite a bit, but have never heard of this card game. I might check it out, and great post!
