The rise of the Indie RPG

in #games7 years ago

In a current era where game consoles (XBOX, PlayStation and Switch, etc.) are constantly struggling to excel in the marke attracting with increasingly advanced features and better graphics that can virtually rival the movies, a greater number of players are betting on the creation of apparently simple games but with great narrative capacity, popularly called Indie RPGs.

These games with 16 bit graphics that are reminiscent of the games of the first Nintendo and Sega consoles in the eighties, are characterized by taking advantage of the lack of stylized graphics with the intelligent exploitation of the elements offered in the software used for its creation, usually called RPG Maker (which has been constantly updated in new versions with different features for user choice), as well as stories and varied plots for all tastes: Horror, drama, comedy and romance, one could say that for all players there is at least one game that has a theme that can get their attention and want to play it.

There are several reasons why these games have a great diffusion among players: Many of these games are free, which encourages people to get them and spread them over the Internet, especially thanks to platforms like YouTube, where many popular users upload videos and gameplays, gaining interest in these games and create a kind of free publicity that benefits both sides, creators and players.
