Destiny 2 is a fun shooter, but the things that helped make the original Destiny a fun MMO are missing...
First off, we need randomness in weapons back.
As of right now, if you and I have the same weapon (e.g. Nameless Midnight), it has the same stats, and the same perks available to it. The only possible difference between them is light level which can be altered via infusing. Random rolls make each weapon unique, and make having a well-rolled weapon a prize to be achieved. Destiny had it, but Destiny 2 doesn't and it makes things feel stale.
Second, we need to be able to choose our Strikes, Missions, Adventures, Crucible gametypes, etc. Right now we have playlists, or we get a limited list of missions or adventures to choose from.
What if I don't like a certain strike? or a certain PVP gametype? Hope you get lucky. What if I want to play a specific mission or adventure, and it's not on the list today? Out of luck.
Third, we simply need more content. More of everything. The new expansion this week should help that at least.
Fourth, we need the "Dailies" from Destiny 1. For example, a Daily Heroic Mission, a Daily Heroic Strike, Nightfall we have, a Daily Crucible type (we would need to be able to choose like I mentioned above). Each with cool rewards.
Fifth, better rewards. We need a better variety of guns and armor. We need cool game changing bonuses and maybe even drawbacks. (Like the Rise of Iron Artifacts from Destiny 1) We need things that make our characters seem cooler. And we need these cool items locked to specific gametypes. (Strike specific, Heroic Mission specific, Nightfall specific, Crucible specific, Raid specific, etc.)
Sixth, we need new enemies. Current enemies are just recycled from Destiny 1 with a small handful of changes. We need more things like The Taken, or even the Siva Fallen. Where old enemies get new and unpredictable changes that force us to think in new ways. Better AI would help the enemies feel better too.
Seventh, in-game trading of items should be a thing. That way they could make even rarer items knowing they'd be traded around. In game trading with ultra rare content would almost single-handedly make this game a better "MMO."
Eighth, sliding difficulty. The base campaign is too easy, but if we added a few difficulty levels, nobody would complain. Remember Halo? Easy, Normal, Heroic, Legendary? Why not have Easy Strikes, Missions, Adventures, and then also Normal, Heroic, and Legendary versions? We usually had 2 difficulties in Destiny 1, we only have 1 for most things in Destiny 2. (Except Nightfall and Raid where we do in fact have 2)
Ninth, we need more PVP modes. We need a FFA mode, a CTF mode, a Team objective mode, or even a multiple objective mode with attackers and defenders. Look to the Halo series (which they made the first 3 games of) for inspiration for PVP gametypes.
Tenth and finally, a little cross platform love. If I get this game on PC and Xbox for example, why can't I transfer my save between them? Why can't I do cooperative with my friends on a different system? (Competitive I can understand) Other games do this already, so why not Destiny 2?
As always, thanks for reading.
