In 2013 when I had useless PC, I wished of playing Resident evil 6 and after a year I bought a better PC. But after reading your post, now I am wishing to play it again with a girlfriend, in fact I am single from the start :D. Well I suggest you to play Resident Evil 7 with your girlfriend. Although it can be played into split screen but you both definitely gonna enjoy such a horror game together.

Resident Evil 7 looked pretty darn cool. I've seen it played, and I've played the intro at a friends house on PSVR (although I got a heavy dose of motion sickness and had to stop). It's definitely much scarier than RE6, which is more of an action-oriented game.
Oh! I can imagine how you felt playing that horror masterpiece on VR. I hope you complete the whole game on VR and share your experience.
