Oh man this really makes me want to break my self-imposed "no video games" rule. I could get hooked on something like this so bad... REALLY great write up, I think you have focused on something so important about how a game's designers introduce game elements and build immersion - it is always better to let players encounter bits and pieces and start puzzling it out, vs. cramming it in your face via cut scene or other exposition. For sure. It's why I enjoy the lore of Dead Cells its ilk- as bare-bones as it is, it makes the world feel somehow more real and mysterious than if there were some lengthy explanation as to what happened before the game's start.
