Recently I made an article on Pantheism, showing both its spritual and scientific sides, being my proudest work so far (if your interested click here). Today I want to talk about a game that totally fits in with this belief, called Everything. It's categorized as a game but could just aswell be a stand-alone as a simulator.

Everything
Video game
9/10 · Steam

Everything is a simulation game developed by artist David OReilly. It was released for the PlayStation 4 on March 21, 2017, for Microsoft Windows and macOS on April 21, 2017, and for Linux on April 28, 2017.
Initial release date: March 21, 2017

Developer: David OReilly
Engine: Unity
Publisher: Double Fine Productions
Genre: Simulation game
Programmer(s): Damien Di Fede
Platforms: PlayStation 4, Microsoft Windows, Linux, Macintosh operating systems

So what is this game all about?

Everything 😄 It's a simulator where you can become anything. A rock, a molecule, a house, even an universe. From a singularity to a bunch of trees, a group of polar bears, to a pack of penguins! (o boy I love penguins)

You can switch between those entities at any time. At one point being a grass sprite observing your surroundings on just a mere scale. Witnessing the insects around you while animals are blurred out in the distance, with no grasp on the entirety of the universe whatsoever. While at another point you become a part of the universe, perhaps a planet, seeing the bigger picture, yet with no awareness of the grass sprite and its surroundings. So depending on what you become, your perception changes.

There are some commands to interact between one another, mostly showing some thought bubbles, there even is an ability to create new life by doing a silly dance. But what might be the best feature (along its core gameplay) of the game itself would probably be the lectures of Alan Watts. For those that don't know him, he was a philosopher most known for being an interpreter (hence his famous lectures) bringing eastern philosophy to the western world. By playing the game you unlock more of his speeches, including subtitles (and replayability) so they can be followed thoroughly. Discussing topics as consciousness, existence and society.

Another thing worth mentioning is its soundtrack. Consisting of over 3 hours of music, causing a great ambient atmosphere within the game. If your in a philosophical mood check out the video below, containing gameplay of the game itself along with a full speech of Alan Watts himself.
