Bully is an action-adventure video game developed by Rockstar Vancouver and published by Rockstar Games. It was released on October 17th, 2006 for the PlayStation 2. It can now be played on other consoles such as Wii, Xbox 360 and PC.
Set in a fictional town called Bullworth, you play as a troubled student James "Jimmy" Hawkins who has been sent to a private school by his mother. You're taken in by a fellow student by the name Gary who mentors you without asking and introduces you to the various cliques of Bullworth Academy; the Bullies, Nerds, Preppies, Greasers and Jocks. Each of these cliques has an obvious distinct characteristic to them, obviously, that makes them easy to tell apart all throughout the town and school. You work with Gary to try and assert your dominance over the rest of the cliques in the school. Which eventually back fires on you. You go from being feared, to being hated by everyone and you play the rest of the game gaining everyone's trust and trying to get back at the guy who fucked you over from the beginning, Gary.
One mode of gameplay I thought was pretty interesting was the fact that you have a schedule, and when the bell rings, you HAVE to go to class. Okay, technically you don't have to, but if you don't, the adults on campus will chase you down and force you into your class. Each class has different mini-games you can play, if you get a good score, you pass the class. If not, you gotta take it over again. In science class you get to cut open dead animals like rats and frogs, dissecting and pulling out organs. In music class it's almost like Dance Dance, you have to hit the right buttons at the right time as the drop from the screen. If you don't time it right, the notes are played wrong and you fuck up the whole song.
I loved every aspect of this game. All the mini-games, the story mode and tons of different characters you meet all throughout town and in school. It's definitely age appropriate, nothing to vulgar that might piss you parents off. I'd give this one a 4/5. Fun to play, would love to play a remastered version of this game. That would be pretty awesome!
Thanks for sharing the review! I have played nearly every Rockstar game except for this one.
If you haven't played it, definitely give it a try!
nice game
Very interesting game... I like games where there are a lot of variety in gameplay so I'll definitely check this one out.
Looking forward to seeing more recommendations in the future. Followed.
For sure man! Plenty more to come, without a doubt! I post different reviews daily. So, I do at least one Video Game review a day.
maybe it's because I love crass humor, but I always thought that Bully was a fun game. It had just the right amount of immature humor
For sure, it definitely had a funny store, and never went too much over the top. Good for kids to play as much as adults. That's what makes it such a good game.
I might try to play this game ...
Definitely give it a try. Played it on my new TV when mine was brand new, it was awesome.
I bought this game on PC, but couldn't really get past the clunky controllers and the bad UI design. I couldn't tell you as to how good the game is overall.
I played it on 360, so everything was pretty easy to get used to quickly.
