Hello fellow Steemians!
I have been thinking a great deal recently about Steem as a potential platform for revolutionising games journalism.
The current state of the video game journalistic world has more than a few issues as anyone that reads reviews from larger outlets like IGN can tell quickly.
blatant bribes from publishers to buy higher review scores are an industry standard at this point and have resulted in basically every AAA game release getting at least an 8/10 no matter how bad it is.
Kotaku writers reviewing games they have no interest whatsoever in making no effort to even pretend like they care and still raking in the big bucks.
these problems and others have combined to create an atmosphere which many gamers actively try to avoid at this point, instead going out of their way to find indie reviews or friend recommendations which is all well and good but neither the small scale indie reviewers or your mates are getting paid for providing that information to you.
Steem can change this, on this platform anyone with a passion for gaming, writing or even better both, can write reviews about games they are interested in with no editor breathing down their necks or publisher forcing them to give high review scores. And the best part is you can be paid for it you can build a following just as if you were taking the more mainstream journalistic path. You get all the benefits of being a games journalist (being paid to sit around playing computer games) with none of the downsides of being a soulless sellout.
So! whats the point in writing this? I want to encourage people to try their hand at writing a game review so here's the plan, write a game review blog post and the drop a comment here with URL to it and on Saturday I will go through them all pick my favourites and dish out some SBD and upvotes.
The rewards will be as follows
1st: 3 SBD
2nd: 2 SBD
3rd: 1 SBD
and up votes for all!
if this takes off at all I don't see why we cant do it again and with higher rewards but just for testing the waters hopefully this will be enough to motivate people to have some fun with writing and maybe kick off their careers as professional video game players!
Thanks for reading

Hey, I've been lately doing some "historical" gaming posts reviewing not so much individual titles in detail, but certain years and noteworthy titles in general, not sure if this fits what you are looking for, but i did try to make it a fun to read thing:
A trip back to 1999 in gaming history (Part 1)
A trip back to 1999 in gaming history (Part 2)
A trip back to 1997 in gaming history (Part 1)
A trip back to 1991 in gaming history
sounds good. I will have a look through them when I get a moment.
very good stuff keep it up with writing these. Given that you are the only person that entered i'm just gonna send you 1 SBD but you have earned a follow from me and an upvote on each one of those.
Awesome! And thanks for your time. Happy you like the content, I'll try to continue putting out interesting (at least as I see it :) ) stuff.
Any particular games you are interested in? Or just games in general?
Anything at all! the most important thing is that its something YOU are interested in, above all the purpose of this should be to try something new and have a bit of fun.
Steemmonsters and maybe write small cryptogame reviews were the reason to get a steem account.. So I might try one...
sounds good! Crypto-integrated games are actually a newfound interest of mine too.
