Gaming History: Age of Empires “Withstanding the test of time”

in #gaming7 years ago

Age of Empires - A strategic game with no magic, no monsters, no aliens or orcs or elves, just people. You command a people from their most primitive days, before they had discovered agriculture and scouting with sheep, and well into the age of empires, of iron and culture. Although it’s totally focused on combat, there is such a charm to it that makes it feel like it has more to offer.

Age of Empires is a timeless classic, glad to see it still getting coverage!
Except for the Priest (now a meme) the Academy units were my favourite and the Phalanx and Centurions were one of the few (or only) that could really take on the Elephants one on one.

This game is a nostalgia trip, this reminded me to buy the AoE II Hd remake

This game was one of the best, off the shelf value PC games I remember buying. Simulation with the RTS battles was a fun combo to help balance my attention for many hours.

ive played this game a couple times but could never get into it hmm
