Raiders of the Broken Planet: Hades Betrayal

in #gaming7 years ago

A few weeks ago came the third of the campaigns of Raiders of the Broken Planet , entitled The Betrayal of Hades . As happened with the previous two, this campaign adds four new missions designed by the team of Mercury Steam to enjoy with the Raiders of the Broken Planet in cooperative mode and / or with the inclusion of an Antagonist. But, on this occasion, the arrival of this campaign has brought some radical changes that change the gaming experience , as a new progression system, among other important novelties.

The Raiders, commanded by Harec, will now face the Hades Division. This faction is a powerful military organization commanded by General Krausher, determined to dominate the resources of the Broken Planet or to destroy it in the attempt. Faced with the impossibility of facing equal army-size conditions, Harec has an ace up his sleeve: try to convince Krausher's security chief, Ayana Kwena, to work for them and help them defeat Hades from within.

Thus, Ayana Kwena, will be the new unlockable character exclusively in this campaign and we will have her as a new raider after overcoming the first of her four missions. In this mission, we have to attack an Aleph extraction station and blow it up. In front of the station is Ayana who, after her failure, will not be able to return to be under Krausher's orders and will have to agree to join the Raiders (in exchange for a huge amount of money, of course).

This first mission is the shortest of the four, but it is very fun in cooperative. We will need to collect Aleph to activate different valves that will overload the Aleph container of the station. You have to open doors to access the different sections of the station and, when everything is about to jump through the air, flee to the point of extraction.

What will be noticeable in this mission is that there is a huge amount of enemies controlled by the machine . Many more than in previous campaigns, especially if we do not have an Antagonist before us. In addition, we will find bots of different factions and we will attend astonished to how they face, and they are eliminated, among them. This makes us find ourselves with epic moments in which we defend ourselves from huge groups of enemies, while they also fight among themselves and we have to pass between different lines of fire, all enemies.

This is the case also of the second of the missions of this campaign, 'In Media Res', where we will have to open our way through a council station that is being attacked by Hades, at the head of whose troops will be Schneider, a very peculiar and important in the history of this campaign . Here we have to go loading (one of the Raiders escorted by the rest) with a decoder device to go hacking different doors that will take us to find this guy.

In order to successfully complete the mission, here we will be able to embody Ayana Kwena, a human with very bad milk whose goal is to get Harec a ticket to Earth and a lot of gold to distribute among their fellow citizens of Botswana. Ayana is equipped with a rifle that launches explosive mines , which we can disseminate all over the stage, or directly at the feet of the enemies we face more directly. As an extra skill, it has a power cable with which we can grab enemies, stretch it through different corners and obstacles and bring them to us by pressing a button to do as much damage as possible (and end up with them in a melee fight) .

The Mission/ Changes

This second mission is exponentially more extensive than the first, and almost impossible to play alone. It is really entertaining with four Raiders, but the two best are the following, missions 3 and 4. We will not go into more details, but it can said that they are really extensive, complex, which will force us to change the focus of the action and the objectives constantly (activating and deactivating door hacks, collecting Aleph to get it, eliminating engineers that deactivate what we have already achieved and, above all, facing two huge and hilarious final enemies to eliminate). All of them designed to be completed in cooperative mode (with or without the ingredient of the Antagonist (alone it is already another song).

But beyond the interesting of these new four missions, their rewards and what they bring to the lore their new stories and cinematics (special attention to Lycus and the expected final cinematic) we have to talk about a big change in the game, a turnaround to the game experience of Raiders of the Broken Planet that Mercury Steam has added after speaking with dozens of fans and after the experience of these first 6 months of the title's life.

Perhaps, the most important change is the inclusion of a system of progression , which before did not really exist. Now the game allows us to level up and yes, we all start at level 1. After each mission we will get experience and our level as players will go up little by little. This is ordering the level of the players and giving us access to rewards in a staggered way. In addition, access to certain elements, rewards and even some of the raiders comes when we reach certain levels.

Another of the most interesting elements is the Forge , a place where we can customize our own weapons, as we get elements to modify them in our mission rewards. This adds a huge amount of possibilities to arm our characters for our preferred way of playing and each of the missions (in addition to the card system that does not disappear).

Another interesting addition is the Aequilibrium , a system of balance between the Raider and Antagonist and that offers us a plus of rewards the closer this indicator is from the center. This balance system is applied when we play alone or when we play as a team (where the statistics of the individual Aequilibrium are mixed). This is a way of encouraging people to also start playing as Antagonist in a similar percentage to the one they already do in Raider mode.

It is clear that this third campaign, The Betrayal of Hades , and all the changes that have turned the game very attractive has attracted the attention of many players, and that we have noticed in the improvement at the time of finding the game. In the two prudent campaigns, the matchmaking of the game made us wait in excess and we had many problems to match. In these early days, we have found the game very easily and that is a very positive element, although the problems with matchmaking have not disappeared completely. We will see if with the passage of time this change of direction that has struck the game convinces more and more players. At the moment, it has left an excellent taste in our mouths.

Conclusion

This third campaign of Raiders of the Broken Planet has been a revolution and has improved the game substantially. The title is still not without problems, but the road now seems correct. The progression system was essential and new elements such as the Forge added 'chicha' to this multiplayer title that has not yet won the favor of the general public.
