October is here! Pumpkin themed everything in sight, costume searching begins and some nice spooky loot drops for us in the gaming world. Stores and shopping centers are already rushing to decorate for Christmas and it hasn’t even been Halloween yet! One of possibly the most fun times of year to decorate for. In spirit of the holiday, let’s have a look at some of the gaming updates and events for everyone’s favourite spooky time of year.
Overwatch
Probably one of the most popular games on this list that everyone will be excited to play this Halloween event. The skins available in Overwatch are some of the most impressive with so many on offer and themes for almost every event or holiday that comes along. Opening Halloween loot boxes gives you the chance to get any of last years cosmetics as well 50 new ones for this year. The event runs until November 1st and it is definitively worth checking out.
Paragon
This is the one I am most excited for, being the game on this list I play the most. The MOBA has been running Halloween events since 2016 with 3 new skins up for grabs this year. To increase your chances of getting this years Shadow’s Eve chests, link your Epic Games account to your Twitch account and either watch or stream the game on Twitch. The Official Paragon Bot will enter channels and randomly select some viewers to award a chest to. As well as the chance to earn them from playing matches you could be rolling in loot from both last year and this year’s new additions.
World of Warcraft
Hallow’s End adds daily and event quests to complete for in game rewards as well as a dungeon that drops the Headless Horseman’s mount. Pumpkins are everywhere, even on your head as a mask along with other themed item rewards. The world event achievement Hallowed Be Thy Name will grant the player suffix title ‘the Hallowed’.
Guild Wars 2
Lion’s Arch transforms into a spooky paradise where you can trade with merchants in candy corn and enter the Mad King’s realm such as the Labyrinth, Clock Tower and Ascent to Madness. During the event you can complete event quests for loot or even take part in a game of Mad King Says. The latest expansion for Guild Wars 2 only went live in September and everyone is already making use of the new mounts in the newly added Labyrinth race.
Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare
Call of duty already has zombie modes which would suffice for Halloween just on its own but this update gives you free stuff for each of the 4 weeks of the event so that’s cooler. Every Monday you will receive free supply drops with limited edition Halloween loot and Halloween hacks and every Friday will unlock free accessories and a new zombie boss battle.
Killing Floor 2
This updates brings a new map, new weapons for each class and Halloween themed items to the game. Event missions are available each day to fight against some returning enemies and bosses for rewards. Already running on Steam and PlayStation 4, the Xbox update will drop on October 24th.
Pokemon Go
Increased spawns and new ghost type Pokemon will be added to the game during the event as well as a candy bonus like in other holiday events. You will also be able to catch a special Pikachu in a costume as well as dress up your own character to join in the fun from October 20 to November 2.
Halloween arrives on the 31st of October in less than 2 weeks time, many of the events have already started and will run until early November just after Halloween, so go get haunting and trick or treating and have Gh’oul time!
