As you may have heard already, Geralt of Rivia will be joining the brawl in Bandai Namco's Soulcalibur VI, something that so many people excited about. The reveal trailer shows Geralt beating Nightmare and Mitsurugi with The Witcher's soundtrack playing, making Geralt look like he's making an awesome entrance into Soulcalibur universe.
That's badass, as always. But what is there to expect from Geralt in his first appearance in another game aside of his white hair, two swords, and Kaer Morhen armour? One thing we can see from the trailer is the end of the fight in the trailer, the ability to use signs. But that's not all. Not just those obvious features that gamers could easily guessed. CD Projekt Red aims to bring "the full Geralt" into Soulcalibur VI.
Check out this developer talk video to see what "full Geralt" really means.
It's so awesome that CD Projekt Red is willing to undergo that much work to recreate Geralt in a universe that is completely different from The Witcher, and I'm not talking about the theme and what's in it, but how combat behave differently from where Geralt came from.
Not only sharing some of The Witcher's assets--like Geralt's model and animations--CDPR also have to "go back to the drawing board" to re-adjust the character with the new ground. They even asked Geralt's motion capture actor to supervise the recreation of Geralt in Soulcalibur VI.
Appearance, fighting style, combination of swordplay with witcher signs and enchantments potions, and no lack of his grumpy sarcastic personality, which can be clearly seen in the reveal trailer when he complains about portal, as always. Plus Kaer Morhen as an extra arena with the iconic Hunt or be Hunted soundtrack.
Speaking of portal, as explained in the video, Geralt may be a guest character in Soulcalibur game, but CDPR makes his appearance in Soulcalibur universe could be considered canon. If you've played The Witcher games or read the books, you know that in spite of his hatred for portals, Geralt has been so unlucky enough to go through portals again and again and again. And CDPR makes this to be the reason why Geralt appear in Soulcalibur universe, because of his interdimensional travel, as simple as that. Poor Geralt.
Just a random thought... I wonder if there'll be some kind of easter egg that at one point, before the fight begin the match suddenly end because Geralt die by using a portal, assuming he will always jump out of a portal in the match's opening.
As for the release date, there's still no exact date heard from both companies, but it is planned to be released this year for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Thanks for reading, and stay tuned for more of my post, Steemian.
