Introduction
Hey guys, my name's Ggt and for this post we'll be checking out the game Pixel Piracy. We'll also be checking out my personal playthrough of the game. I'd just like to say before getting started that if you have any questions, concerns or what not about the game or post, you can feel free to ask them below. I'll be sure to respond as soon as possible! Otherwise lets get started and jump right into it all with a short description on the game itself.
What is Pixel Piracy?
Pixel Piracy is an indie developed (So small team of game designers, nothing big) real-time strategy side-scrolling game with RPG roguelike elements. The game was developed by Quadro Delta studios.
In the game you take on the role of a captain with one clear goal, being a pirate. You can do various things spanning from creating your own pirate ship, hiring and training your own crew, along with so much more as you strive towards notoriety as in infamous pirate. The game has endless possibilities and hours upon hours of fun, intriguing content.
My thoughts on Pixel Piracy
At first I was a bit skeptical to try the game. The development team had completely abandoned the game and I wasn't sure if there was enough content to make it worth my while. Despite all this I decided to buy the game anyways for 10.99 $ CAD on Steam. After starting up the game I was hooked from the start.
There was tons of content and things to do along with so many things to learn. I created my own small ship, explored the seas, fought off other rival pirates and ventured into dangerous islands only to be chased off by it's primitive but dangerous locals. I even tried to start up my own crew only to inevitably fail as each new member was slain in one way or another on my adventures.
Though this isn't a full review, I'd certainly suggest picking up Pixel Piracy is you have the extra money laying around. It's lots of fun and will have you hooked for at least a dozen or so hours.
My Playthrough, part one: "Captain Ggt"
With the introduction and game description out the way, lets jump right into the playthrough with the start of our Captain's story, Captain Ggt. Ggt had one goal and that was to become the most infamous pirate in the lands of Piracia. But such was no easy task. The only way to do so would mean to defeat all four of the legendary pirates; Peter Sundle, Gottfrid Svartholm, Aaron Swartz and finally Tim Berners-Lee.
The lands of Piracia were as bad a place as the name suggested. It was a sickening land, filled with pirates and plagued by great monsters. Those who inhabited it inhabited hardship. If that wasn't bad enough, a great war had recently raged through Piracia. The outcome had torn and divided the populace apart, creating almost endless conflict. No matter where you turned, fighting was inevitable.
Set in the middle of this horrid place was our story's protagonist, a scarred and snide man who went by the name 'Ggt.' Ggt lived a simple life up until recently as a family man. He made his living as a spooner, making and selling spoons to whomever needed them. This all changed though as his family was one day slain at the hands of Piracia's four legendary pirates. Filled with anger and a lust for revenge, Ggt now tossed aside his ways as a spooner instead becoming a pirate on the hunt for those who had killed his loved ones.
Ggt with what few coins he had bought a small ship and sailed out towards a nearby town in search of others willing to join his crew. He couldn't complete his task alone, and Ggt knew that. So he sailed, and sailed until one day finding himself under attack.
A single pirate had bordered Ggt's ship and demanded everything our beloved Captain had. Ggt refused and drew his blade, preparing for battle against the pirate known as Brownlee. Brownlee soon found himself greatly outmatched as Ggt cut him down, slaying the pirate with ease. Ggt took all of the dead man's valuables before pillaging his small raft for parts, adding them onto his own.
Moving on, Ggt stumbled across two islands before finally reaching his destination. The first island was small and for some strange reason inhabited by dozens of friendly panda. Ggt noted the island's location hoping to one day return and possibly capture some of the strange beasts. He knew that they would sell for quite the small fortune, if they could be captured. On the second island Ggt found a chest protected by a lone tribal warrior. Ggt engaged the warrior, fighting him in a close fight only to prevail by mere chance. He afterwards looted the chest and was off.
When Ggt had finally arrived in the town, he docked his ship and went to the tavern to get some well-deserved rest. After waking, Ggt would soon find his first crewmate and officially become a true pirate Captain.
