Speed Kills--But Might it Kill Me?

In February, I went to "Dave and Busters", it's what arcades have evolved into. You can order food, watch sports on television and play video games. One of the games that piqued my interest was a fighting game using characters from the Marvel universe. I was rewarded for my efforts with three collector's cards; Captain America, The Punisher, and Hela. These cards were for a smartphone game that I downloaded and began to play. If anyone plays "Contest of Champions", look me up as "J!@g0".

About a week ago, I had enough experience to go on quests with alliances. I had a few false starts, but eventually found a home. I'm one of the lowest-ranking members, and a lot of my contributions to the alliance's efforts are defeating some of the weaker characters and opening up lines. At the end of the quest, though, I am rewarded with resources to upgrade my heroes and villains.

What I've become aware of is my style of play. It's very defensive, emphasizing blocking and dodging. This puts a tremendous premium on speed. My basic team in quests is; Carnage, Guillotine and Sabretooth. It works well, but I do need to work on parrying enemy attacks. What I wonder is how successful is this as a long-term strategy?

I am sure that I will encounter opponents that are quicker, or have special attacks or abilities that can break through my defense, for example Shadowcat; Nebula and Ultron Drones are my current nemesis. I may upgrade characters like Juggernaut and Kingpin that can take and deliver damage to a point where they become another set of options. As a sports fan, I understand that match ups win games!
