Hey now everyone, hope you're all having a great day, and welcome to my list of Top 5 Xbox 360 Games! Last generation my console of choice was definitely the Xbox 360. I absolutely loved my Xbox, still do actually, and there were just a ton of excellent games that came out during that time. Even though I went through about 4 different consoles, due to random technical problems, the 360 provided me with endless hours of entertainment. Looking back at all the games I played on there it was difficult to narrow it down to only 5 of them, but after some tough cuts I have my list. This isn't limited to exclusives only, and your list might be very different from mine, these are just my personal top 5 choices. Now let's get into it!

#5 - DEAD SPACE

The original Dead Space took everyone by surprise, and helped make survival horror relevant again at the time. Probably my favorite genre of game, Dead Space not only had incredible atmosphere, but very fun, frantic gameplay as well. Released in October of 2008, and developed by Visceral Studios, who's sadly no longer with us, this game became extremely popular with two sequels released after this first one. The second Dead Space was also very good, the third one not so much, but I wanted to give this spot to the original game because that's what started the whole thing, and it was just so damn good.

This was a sci-fi survival horror experience that took place way in the future in outer space. In the year 2508 a distress signal is broadcast from a ship called the Ishimura, a gigantic mining vessel made for extracting ore from planets. You play as Isaac Clarke, a member of the rescue team sent to investigate what happened to the Ishimura. Upon arriving at the ship it's obvious that something terrible has happened here. None of the ships crew are left alive, and the place is crawling with the undead. The game takes you on quite an adventure as you piece together what happened, and try to make it out alive. This is truly one of the best of the genre, and my number 5 favorite 360 game.

#4 - ALAN WAKE

Next up we have Alan Wake, which is another amazing survival horror game. This was an Xbox 360 exclusive, and in my opinion it was one of the best on the system. This game was dripping with creepy atmosphere, and it absolutely nailed the tone, keeping things on edge the entire time. I played through this one multiple times, partly because I loved it so much, but also to try and get all the achievements. Being such a huge fan of horror this was right up my alley, and it delivered on every level. The story was intriguing, the gameplay was unique and fun, and it went on to earn itself something of a cult following. Unfortunately this never got a proper sequel, leaving the story unfinished, but maybe someday we will actually get one.

You play as Alan Wake, a struggling horror novelist, kind of similar to Stephen King, who has had terrible writers block for the past couple years. He and his wife Alice take a vacation to the small town of Bright Falls in Washington state, to try and relax. But not long after arriving Alan begins to notice something is not right about this place. Suddenly Alice goes missing, and Alan starts to become haunted by shadowy figures that stalk him in the night. He fears that his novels are coming to life, as things spiral more and more out of control. The only way to fight back against these creatures is to use light as a weapon, something that the game handled very well, making for some memorable experiences. If you've never played this one I highly recommend trying it out.

#3 - FALLOUT 3

At the number 3 spot we have the infamous Fallout 3, the first Fallout game developed by Bethesda. This was my first experience with the series, and after playing this one I was hooked. I was amazed by the level of freedom the player had to just explore the vast landscape, and create your own adventure to an extent. Fallout 3 combined the depth, and leveling system of an RPG, with the fast paced action of a first person shooter. Before Bethesda took over the series it was a 2d isometric style game, but they gave everything a complete overhaul, turning it into one of the most beloved game franchises of all time. Even though it was notorious for having problems with bugs, and glitches, it didn't really matter because the rest was so good.

Fallout is a series that takes place in the future after a nuclear apocalypse wiped out life as we know it. You emerge from a vault hidden deep underground, safe from the damage caused by the bombings. When you take your first steps outside everything is destroyed, and radiation has caused what life remains to mutate. Taking place in Washington D.C., and much of the countryside to the west of it, you are free to roam about the Capitol Wasteland, exploring the desolate, and dangerous landscape. With so much to see and do this is a game that will keep you busy for a long time, and even after you finish it there's still a good chance you'll want to go back through it again. Still my favorite of the series, this is well deserving of my number 3 favorite 360 game.

#2 - GRAND THEFT AUTO 5

GTA5-4.jpg

The Grand Theft Auto series has been around for quite a long time now, and over the years it's changed a lot. Every new addition making things a little prettier, while making the world bigger, and packed full of things to do. With GTA 5 they completely nailed what makes this franchise so great, giving us one of the best sandboxes of all time to play in. Whether you play to complete missions, and take in the story, or just go around stealing cars causing chaos, there's something for everyone to enjoy about this game. With a giant map packed full of things to do, three distinct playable main characters who each add something special, and the best graphics the series has seen yet, it's no wonder why GTA 5 still remains one of the most played games even today.

Michael Townley, Trevor Phillips, and Franklin Clinton are the three protagonists you play as this time around, and they each have their own interesting story to tell. Set in the sprawling city of Los Santos, an imitation of Los Angeles, Rockstar has created their best open world to date. Not only has this become a huge success, and one of the highest grossing games ever made, but it still flies off the shelf with it's port on modern consoles. With so much content packed into the city for you to enjoy in single player, you will always have more to do, and on top of that the game features a thriving online experience, where you can play with your friends and take on the city together. This is definitely one of Rockstar's best games ever, and a worthy contender for my number 2 favorite 360 game.

#1 - SKYRIM

Much like Fallout 3, and GTA 5, Skyrim is another game from last gen that was so damn good it had to get ported over to modern consoles, and still sells incredibly well, with a huge devoted fan base. This is the fifth installment in the Elder Scrolls series, and even though Oblivion, and Morrowind were really good, this is where the franchise hit it's stride, perfecting all the little nuances that make it so much fun. I've not only played through this multiple times putting in over 200 hours, honestly I stopped keeping track it might be way more than that, but I've also played all the DLC packages as well. Something about this huge fantasy land, brimming with monsters and dragons, just never gets old. This is not only my favorite game from last gen, but one of my favorites of all time.

This is the second game on my list developed by Bethesda, proving how incredible they have become, and what an excellent track record they have. You play as the Dragonborn, a mortal man with the power and soul of a dragon, who is hunting down the evil black dragon Alduin. The prophecy has stated that Alduin will bring about the destruction of the world, and the only one who can stop it is you. Although that is the main story of the game, very little of your time spent playing will be focused on that. There's so many things to get lost in, so many people to get to know, so many places to discover and explore, that you will get lost in Skyrim for a very long time. Bethesda is so good at creating worlds for us players to enjoy, and hopefully we wont have to wait too long for their next adventure. This was an easy pick for my number 1 favorite Xbox 360 game.

Thank you guys for checking out my list of Top 5 Xbox 360 Games, I hope you enjoyed it!

Sort:

Good summary of the games. For me the best is Skyrim and Alan Wake. I invested many hours in them.

A 360 list with no Halo! Sacrilege! Nice list and write up, though.
