Oh wow that's a sick laptop! There was a good while that I was a PC gamer. I remember the first wolfenstein back in the day. That was really fun. Loved the machine gunners that would say "guten tach" before opening fire. And the regular soldiers with their "mein laben" when you killed them. But when Doom came out that was amazing. For some reason the addition of elevation changes made the game so much better. Then Quake went pure 3D which was mind blowing. Half-life was teh next great evolution as it actually had a compelling story. And then Counter-Strike came out and I was hooked.

Don't forget Duke Nukem, LOL I loved his comments.. That's when a sound card was a bonus..
I thought that when id allowed mod developers to use the engine was totally awesome..
That's what makes PCs dominate (mods), excuse the pun..LOL
Oh ya Duke Nukem! I totally did forget about that game. It was hilarious though almost like a cross between doom and Leisure Suit Larry. But I totally agree that mods are a big reason PC gaming is better than consoles. Do you ever remember the Alien Total Conversion back in the day for Doom. That was so epic. I also really liked all the custom maps and TD maps in Warcraft. The modding community is fantastic. It all just got way to technical for me. The original doom editing tools were simple just draw the 2dmap pick the wall textures set some lighting values and heights and voila instant level. Even BSP editors in Quake weren't that bad but it just kept getting more and more complicated I lost interest.
