Overview
I'm doing a series on what I consider to be the best necromancer games. I begin by looking at the action RPG genre and talk about Grim Dawn, Path of Exile and Din's Curse and compare them to my golden standard: Diablo 2.
Criteria
I only consider games that satisfy my criteria of what makes a necromancy good:
- Plentiful Minions: How can you feel like a proper necromancer without a decent squad/army of minions?
- Permanent Minions: Games that feature minions on a timer are an insult to necromancy.
- Useful Minions: What good are minions that tickle the enemy with feathers and fall down after one hit?
- Summoner weaker than minions: The necromancer must be helpless without his minions. Many games make the minions too weak and the summoner too strong. This is a dreadful necromancy experience IMO.
- Craftable Minions (Bonus): While not strictly necessary, it is cool when minions are not simply summoned out of thin air but require components to be crafted with.
