Full Review
It's been over a month since the game launched, I have 50 hours in the game and the main storyline has been completed. I think I can finally sit down and fully review Monster Hunter: World.
If you'd like to see my thoughts on the first 10 hours; you can see that here: https://steemit.com/gaming/@kaelam-uk/let-s-review-monster-hunter-world
The main game was a lot of fun. It was a nice challenge and had plenty of content. Definite game of the year material without a doubt. However, there are a few minor issues I hold with the game.
First, some of the Monsters can take far too long to fight and kill. That, and taking damage in animations were you can't move feels, one, unfair and is two, incredibly annoying. There's also my issue of being killed in one hit by enemies, but that can be avoided by getting better armour or eating food before quests.
That's the nice thing about this game, for the most part, if you find an issue you're doing something wrong. Change your gear, upgrade it, or try things from a different approach. The game is challenging, it's hard and the game can and probably will kick your ass at one point or another; whether that be at the start of the game or near the end.
Another thing, the game has a lot of grinding. Farming enemies for materials and running around sandboxes to find things you need for crafting will take up a large amount of your time so if you aren't a fan of repetition I really recommend not paying a full price for this game.
However. Cats.
You get to create and customize cats. I don't even LIKE cats but... cats.
To wrap it up and keep this simple, Monster Hunter: World is a fantastic game. It's fun, challenging and all around a solid well worth it purchase. With a few very small and minor issues that I'd personally like to see changed to make the game feel far less unfair and annoying this could easily be one of the best games I've played in years, however those small issues really do hold it back for me.
I give Monster Hunter: World an 8.7/10.
Definitely pick it up if you've never tried to Monster Hunter games and want to find a good entry spot for the series, because I did that and now I'm very eager to see what else this series has to offer in the hopefully not-so-distant future.
