Counter Strike: Global Offensive and Team Fortress 2 are team shooters which have received huge amounts of popularity since their releases. Both are still updated to this day thanks to loyal fan-bases. Although having the same developers, the communities on the games can't agree that the games are equal, so to settle the argument, I will be looking at the pros and cons of both of these games.

TF2 - https://store.steampowered.com/app/440/Team_Fortress_2/

TF2 was released in 2007 as a sequel to Team Fortress and Team Fortress: Classic. TF2 allows you to pick from 9 classes, each with different characteristics and abilities. The most popular of these classes are: Pyro, a flame-thrower wielding maniac who has no mercy; Heavy, a Russian heavy-weapons expert; and Spy, a tricky character who can turn completely invisible and disguise as the enemy.

Customization is a huge part of TF2. Unlike in CS:GO where you can only change weapon appearance (and glove appearance), in TF2 you can change your weapon. Different weapons have different perks and drawbacks, adding a fun twist to the game without making it too unfair on new players. TF2 is always a laugh with friends, you'll always find the craziest things happening when playing with strangers.

There are 14 official gamemodes with 100+ maps. Combining this with 9 classes with customization outfits and different weapons, it's hard to get bored of TF2.

CS:GO - https://store.steampowered.com/app/730/CounterStrike_Global_Offensive/

CS:GO was released in 2012 as a sequel to server Counter Strike games before it. The game follows Terrorists and Counter-Terrorists in several game modes, such as Bomb Defusal, Hostage Extraction and more. CS:GO is thought to be more realistic, which to be fair it is (seen below). CS:GO is currently one of the biggest games in the world, featuring in ESports and other such competitions.

CS:GO doesn't joke around, it gets right to the point. There is even more bloom (spray) than TF2 when firing (although TF2 has virtually none) and on most gamemodes you can only spawn once per round. Players trade their weapons to get the best look possible for in-game, but other than that there isn't any customization, not that CS:GO needs it though.

CS:GO is loved for its realism and tactical plays, players who love a challenge will thoroughly enjoy the ever-changing pace of competitive games and players who'd rather play to cool-down after a long day will love the more laid-back casual mode.

The Better Game

The argument as to which is the better game is a hard one. CS:GO is more realistic, but TF2 is fun because of its unrealistic nature. It completely depends on who you're asking. Some people love realistic graphics and realistic scenarios whilst others prefer to play a game which has crazy customization. I've been playing CS:GO for longer and although I love both games above any other, TF2 is my current go-to game. Not only do more of my friends play TF2, I like how you can be dropped into a lobby with people putting on voices into their mics and how you can change your weapons for the current situation. For me TF2 is definitely the winner, but that doesn't mean I don't think CS:GO is as good.
