Half Life 3 has been the mythical gaming unicorn for years. When do we give up on it? Should we give up on Valve? Falcon has opinions.

I think at this point games have moved so far on that it would be really difficult to please the entire fanbase.
Not to mention the amount of people that won't have played it, I imagine not that many teens will have really played it.
Not that it shouldn't be done just that it has a large amount of hurdles to overcome. Maybe remakes of hl1 & 2 in the newest source engine would help?
Valve is not like other developers. They do not need Half Life anymore. They make more money in one year off games like Counterstrike and DOTA 2 then Half Life 2 made in it's entire lifetime. Not to mention how much money they make off Steam. At this point, they can never live up to the hype surrounding HL3 or whatever.
The only way it will happen is if technology grows enough to let them do something interesting. Valve has no interest in just putting out another Halflife game if it doesn't bring something new to the table.
I think "Half Life 3 Confirmed" is one of the best jokes ever, the joke won't work anymore if everyone lost hope.
