LawBreakers is a brand new first-person shooter that’s online multiplayer mode only. It is in the same class with games like Overwatch, Splatoon and others. The game launched with eight maps and five game modes. It also features eight character classes.
The eight maps are vaguely interesting. They are good maps but they seem to lack that extra touch that makes them special or remarkable. Almost all the maps have an anti-gravity section. Yeah, you read that right. In LawBreakers, you can defy gravity in some special regions of the maps. Titanfall or COD anyone?
For every game, you have two teams. Law and Breakers which is just like cops versus robbers. But there is basically no difference between the two teams. LawBreakers has nine character classes that are well balanced. The nine classes are Assassin, Battle-Medic, Enforcer, Gunslinger, Harrier, Juggernaut, Titan, Vanguard, and Wraith. You have the Juggernaut with his heavy weapons. He is slow but he packs a lot of firepower. You have the Wraith with his speed and his triple jump. You are allowed to swap roles anytime during a match. The characters themselves have little to no character development. There is nothing to remember about them. From far off, it is hard to tell characters apart from each other.

The game modes are varied but they bear similarities with popular FPS multiplayer modes. Uplink is a capture-the-flag mode where you have a satellite dish with which you attempt to upload some information. Overcharge is another mode that bears similarities with capture-the-flag. There is a battery in the middle of the map. Each team attempts to take the battery to their base. Once the battery reaches 100%, your team wins. Sometimes, this mode could get unfair as the battery could reach 95% and the other team could steal it, charge it fully and win the game easily. In Turf War, there are three capture points on the map. Every team attempts to lock down the capture points for as long as possible. Blitzball is a unique mode where both teams race to get the Blitzball in the middle of the map. The team with the Blitzball must then race to score a point at the goal located at the enemy base. If the ball is held for too long, the carrier dies.
LawBreakers is fun to play and the action is fast paced. It won’t be that easy for beginners to get into the game. It could be difficult at first but once you get the hang of the game, it becomes fun.
LawBreakers is an okay first-person shooter. But it might have been released at the wrong time. There is Overwatch, Titanfall 2, Battlefield 1, Call of Duty Infinite Warfare and other games for it to compete with. It will be hard for people to pick up a new first-person shooter with multiplayer only modes. Plus, the game hardly brings anything spectacular to the world of first-person shooters. It might end up drowning in an already crowded sea. And the marketing hasn’t been that great for this game. But we never can tell, it could become an unexpected success.
Pros
- Balanced character classes
- Good gameplay modes.
Con
- Similar looking maps
- Poor character development
- Nothing groundbreaking

Thanks for checking out the post!
I think this game can guarantee your position within the category shooter, you just have to give it an opportunity and even more if your classes are balanced.
