So... I'm sure plenty of you out there know that the Nintendo Switch has an online app for smartphones that it requires you to have if you want to have any type of voice interaction with others online... Yeah, that one...
Nintendo has stated that this service is "free until 2018"... As it stands right now, it needs to be donated, because there is no way to chat with others without having an android or iOS app that links to your console. On top of that, if your phone went to sleep, it wouldn't allow you to use chat anymore.
Really? Literally, Nintendo, what-the-hell? Luckily for the Switch owners, they heard you. They released version 1.1.... I think it should be 1.001. Anyway, they released their latest update which allows you to...... now switch to another app or allow your phone to go on sleep mode without you getting booted out of game chat. Wow!
What really needs to be done is that Nintendo should move away from requiring an app at all. But I think I understand their strategy. They are forcing you to integrate the mobile aspect of your life with Nintendo. I think this is a horrible idea, and could be done much better, but that seems to be the clear case here. Either that or they are clueless, which I don't believe they are.
What are your thoughts? I'd love to hear them :)

I'd say they force you to use an app because of the terrible harddrive space on the switch.
Nintendo really needs to get their shit together when it comes to their online service. It has been fairly lacklustter since the wii
I'm not sure the space is a true indicator of their ability to add a chat service to their online platform. They should be able to knock it out.
And they do need to step up.
awesome
