Why wouldn't you play a treasure hunting game with Crypto prizes ?
The overall idea behind most of these social outdoorsy AR games popping up is that we need to move gaming into the real world, and reward cooperation and interaction, so as to create a better, more connected world using the technology that, if we're honest with ourselves, has really been controlling us more than being a tool for progress and bettering society.
But enough about my ideas on AR games and their importance, let's see what the game has in store !
The basic principle behind CryptoHunt
CryptoHunt sounds like it's going to be a very interesting game, using ETH-based tokens called CH to reward players for completing "interesting, educational and challenging" missions.
It'll allow trading in-between players, and on external exchanges, and aims to introduce even more non-technical people into the Crypto-world !
The game aims to provide players with the chance to profit financially, while also getting some (let's be honest) much needed exercise and fresh air.
What they plan to bring into the game, that other AR games like Ingress managed pretty well and that SEEK completely ignored, is also a component of education. To help people learn more about their local town.
Basic game mechanics
The missions aim to be informative and challenging, using riddles and monuments.
Here's a general example from the Whitepaper (I believe they intend the enigmas to include hints and references to local monuments and history, when they implement them fully):
Professor Crypto gives you your first puzzle question:
'A telecommunications device that permits two or more users to conduct
a conversation when they are too far apart to be heard directly.
Patented In 1876, by Alexander Graham Bell.’At this point, you should know the answer is a telephone.
Now you need to put on your comfortable walking shoes and
start exploring your town searching for the right treasure chest hidden in your city.
There are going to be numerous chests with random items, but only the telephone will take you to the next level.When you have found one, you will have to give it to Professor Crypto.
At this point, he will give you a hint of the exact location of the treasure:
‘An open public space commonly found in the heart of a traditional town used for community gatherings.’You should have realized that the answer is the public square.
So now you have to head over to the square to collect your new items, your next puzzle, and your Crypto Hunt tokens.
I think it's going to be tons of fun !
They also plan to have chests, lockers, safes, etc... with different kinds of locks that won't open without the right password, code or fingerprint.
Don't ask... I have no idea how they'll integrate fingerprint scanners either XD
Collectibles too !
The different chests and such will be protected by guardians (you saw the dragon in the image, but there'll also be skeletons and other critters apparently... I'll wager a Crypto Kitty will guard something, somewhere, in the game as a joke ;) ).
As such, there'll be equipment, weapons, cosmetic upgrades, and general collectible items, all of them registered on the block chain and thus unequivocally yours to trade and exchange
This game sounds better and better !
Proof of Cheat and Proof of Care
Proof of Cheat:
The Bug/exploit hunting is going to be a nice feature, allowing you, the player, to submit bugs and cheats you find in-game in exchange for CH tokens. (They call it )
Proof of Care:
A social promotion feature quite similar to what @smartcash does to promote their cryptocurrency, they'll reward you for posting fan-art and proving you care about the game.
(By the way, this article is a Proof of Care to be accepted for the Beta and the white list for the CH ICO ;) )

There's a lot of other stuff in the Whitepaper, but I'll leave you to explore it.
Here's some stuff I found particularly interesting and worth a mention, though:
maybe a “reach” powerup which allows players to reach for a chest
inside a pay-to-enter establishment like a McDonalds through the wall, allowing them to avoid going inside, etc.
Now that's an in-game object that could be usefull XD
- Live-stream tipping integration is planned
For those who live-stream their games, they're planning to integrate with a crypto-friendly live-streaming service as soon as the official version is launched. they even want to enable viewers of the stream to reward players with extra CH tokens if they complete missions in ways defined by the viewers (they give an example of making the player jump on one leg to his destination XD).
- Their buy-back program is assured with about 750,000$, which they believe will be enough for 3 years of game token buy-backs. and this is before the ICO even happens !
they'll be buying the tokens on exchanges to limit circulating supply outside the game, to limit any pump-dump schemes from spawning.
Some numbers and dates:
Demo/Alpha launch : February (I'll update you on how it goes, and if it's worth it to investin the ICO)
ICO launch (for white listed 24H before) : March 1st to March 15th
ICO MIN: .1 ETH
ICO MAX: 15 ETH (to avoid centralization of the CH tokens
Total Supply: 500,000,000 coins
Soft cap will be $10,000,000 or 200,000,000 tokens,
hard cap will be $15,000,000 at 300,000,000 tokens.
Tokens earned during Beta give a % bonus if you invest in the ICO.
The team will be able to access only 15% of their tokens each year, as a guarantee of commitment to the project.
After the ICO, tokens are locked for 30 days and freed at a rate of 12.5% / week after that.
Full Launch date: 1st June 2018

Yep, just finished the whitepaper, and it sounds like it's going to be good :)
I've beta-tested a few AR games, including Seek, which didn't use the block-chain but awarded users real-world prizes if they found the fragments for it, and communities tend to spring up around them very fast.
Seek made a massive blunder recently, though, updating the App in a way nearly none of the users liked, so I don't think it'll take too much of a push to get them looking into this :)
