Good day to all guys! What's up? I've just got home from work and still got some time before going to sleep. I would like to spend it for steeming!. This is my first review ever, so don't expect to much haha.😂
I bet there are tons of gamers here like me and i hope this post will be useful to you.
We will be talking about a gamepad called Red Spider 9055 from IPEGA. I had this gamepad for about 3months. I bought it coz I'm not satisfied using only the touchscreen as the controller especially when it comes to emulators like ppsspp, epsxe, gameboid and others. You know what I mean fellow gamers. Kind of irritating when my thumbs are covering a portion of the screen while gaming. It's better when your thumbs are off the screen for an obstacle-free view
Well, to start with, the build and design is great and it is comfortable to hold. Just like you are holding a ps3 gamepad. The lower part of the handles are coated by rubber that gives a matte texture for better grip while gaming.
Handles are also adjustable to fit different hand sizes. Loosen up the screws at the bottom of each handles if you have bigger hands.
The L1,L2 and R1,R2 is located at the top as usual. Left and Right stick are soft but firm. D-pad, select, home and start button are so crisp that you can here a clicking sound when pushed. Action buttons (X,Y,A,B) are crisp as well and very responsive.
The smallest button with a battery icon at the left side of the D-pad is for checking the battery life. Pushing it, will activate the led lights next to it. 4 red LEDs lit means the battery is high and, so on. Speaking of battery, it can last up to 10 hours of playtime. Your phone may already be dead but the gamepad is still kicking haha. I can say that, it has a decent battery life.
Android/ios switch and charging port are at the left hand corner. Pull the switch to Android if you got Android phone to avoid connectivity problem.
Connectivity is very simple and easy. Press and hold the home button until blue LEDs are flashing. Turn on phone's bluetooth, then find and select PG-9055 for pairing. When connected, blue LED1 and LED2 lit on. I used to own a ps3 dual shock gamepad and got it connected to android phones but I ended up selling it. Pairing and connecting ps3 gamepad to android is not a piece of cake hehe. You have to go through series of steps like rooting your device, installing 3rd-party apps, connecting the gamepad to pc for some configurations and things like that, to be able to get the gamepad working which is inconvenient for users. Wheeew...
This gamepad is stretchable. It can be extended to support up to 5.5-inch phones. One of the things I like about this gamepad is that, It can clip and hold my phone vertically or horizontally unlike other wireles gamepads out there which only hold phones in horizontal position. Especially, if you are playing NDS games using drastic emu, this controller is perfect since the default screen orientation of drastic is in portrait mode.
A sample picture of drastic emu in portrait mode.
Well, I love to play turn-based RPGs and Action-RPGs. I'm a big fan of Final Fantasy Series and other Square Enix games. And also Monster Hunter FU by Capcom still hooks me up these days. Sounds oldschool haha.
Going back to the topic, Red Spider(according to its manual), supports variety of android games such as Shadowgun, Modern Combat 5, Need for Speed, Call of Duty, Dead Trigger, Overkill, Counter Strike, etc. But I only tested it myself on Dead Trigger. And It really works. All you have to do is to map all the buttons and boom, works flawlessly!
I think IPEGA 9055 is a must-have to get a full controll and a console-like gaming experience on android.
And that's all folks, gamers and hunters! Thanks for reading! Don't forget to hit vote!😆😀😃
