The first console war wasn't Nintendo vs. Sega. It was Atari vs. Intellivision. The Intellivision boasted about its superior graphics compared to the basic and awkward graphics of comparable Atari games. And rightly so, as the Intellivision was the vastly superior system when comparing specs. Here's an example:
