EA Shuts Down the Studio that gave us Dead Space

in #gaming7 years ago

Sadly, EA has announced that they will close Visceral Games, the producers of the Dead Space series.
For EA... money comes first... a cow is good for milking until it's dry, then make some burgers out of it.

Great AAA+ business model :

  • Be a big publisher
  • Develop a dev studio with good game
  • Transform the game into a franchise
  • Press the studio to transform it into an cinematic-action-packed experience
  • Turn away all fans of the original game
  • Wait a few years
  • Close the studio
  • Draw the line on your losses/profit

It's not the first time EA is messing up and shutting down studios, and will probably not be the last one. Hey, who's next? Maybe Bioware? Cause well... their tradition of creating amazing RPGs seems to have gone?! Does it really matter to EA to have one "extra" working studio... ?

The devs seem to have been working on Star Wars, but now the development will be taken over by another team, led by EA Vancouver. Also the release date was pushed for the fiscal year 2019.

Ha, I wrote about this too. This is the typical EA model. Fuck EA!

yup, corporations at their best :(

Especially EA. It's like the 15th studio the kill? And many of those studios were freaking awesome in their niche. Like Maxis, Westwood, Bullfrog ... now ... they're the heroes of my childhood being slain by this shitty ass corporation.
