First time playing, follow to join the adventure
As a big fan of the Sword Art Online series I decided to pick up Sword Art Online Hollow realization for the PlayStation Vita. As I can screenshot with the Vita I've decided to document my journey through the game and share it with all of you.
So this continues after the last game which if you haven't played is another line of virtual MMO that went bad and Kirito and his crew had to save the day. This is the third game I know of in the franchise that goes along with the storyline.
The game starts off with Kirito in Ainground, a direct copy of Aincrad from the original SOA. You start off in the town of beginnings you are in the central teleport Square when you notice an NPC staring at you. It seems very odd and you also receive a spooky message on your messaging system, along the lines of "I'm back in Aincrad."
As you can see you still have your old friends from the anime series and previous games available. Among them being from the core group like Asuna, Lizbeth, Silica, Agil, and more. You are starting the game Sword Art Origins with each other and it is day 1 of the beta test. You know it's supposed to be like the original but with some changes especially from your friend Seven.
After the opening cutscene in a few tutorials you're able to go out into the Wilderness and begin exploring in the rustoria plains. This is where you'll start performing quests and leveling up.
One of the things to keep in mind about Sword Art Online Hollow realization is that it is still a simulated virtual reality MMO. Because of that they were many characters in the game that are supposed to be other players and some characters that are non-player characters. There is something around the number of 300 player characters in the game that you can group up with and bring on an adventure leaving your group very customizable. You are also able to increase characters affection levels towards you in hopes of establishing a strong relationship which assists in unlocking new moves for that player character and speeding of their AI in battle.
Speaking of battle it's not forget about boss monsters. With the boss monsters they have multiple hit point bars. That meansyou will get one bar down only to have a different color bar replace the previous one and it kind of feels like you're starting back at square one. The game is very grinding based because it is simulating an MMO. You will beat the crap out of tons of monsters and proceeded to beat the crap out of bosses sometimes on multiple occasions depending on the boss.
That's about all I have for this post. I'll have more soon but I'm trying not to dull each post with simple game mechanics. I'm going to attempt to mix in game mechanic explanations with storyline progress. I am actively playing this game for the first time and I'm going to share that relatively quickly with all of you. It will be an adventure we get to share together.
Thank you very much for reading. As always I am a big fan of getting comments so feel free to leave some. This will be an ongoing series so feel free to re steam so your friends can see if you'd like. I'm writing this on my esteem app which is wonderful. I hope you enjoyed this post and please follow for more. Steem on!
You deserve this upvote.
Thank you! There is more to come, I have 2 more posts scheduled for today and based on downtime maybe one tonight. Looks to be a busy day on the ambulance though.
I'll keep an eye out for your next one! I played Hollow Fragment on Vita when it came out and have wondered how Hollow Realization is so I'll stay tuned.
I played Fragment as well. There is a big improvement in HR.
Spent 3-4years in MMOs than realized its not worth it, but it was fun though :) 🎮
Thats why this game is great, because its not a real mmo, lol!
I played mmo's for a good dozen years or so, dating back to Everquest before it hit its glory years. While I still love them they are time consuming.
I am new here and just read your post and liked it a lot. Also I just followed you.
Please support me by following me.
Thanks.
Sure thing. Thanks for reading!
Looks interesting. I'll have to actually pay attention more since my younger brother owns the ps4 version. As for the actual show itself...I'm still waiting for them to make a new season.
Indeed! I've been re-watching since I started playing Hollow Realization. It's been great rewatching.
Ive waited for this game for sooo long.. I watched all 22 or 24 episodes of SAO in one sitting when i first found it lol
It is well worth a playthrough so far. I will say if you run into quest npc's they aren't the most descriptive in telling you where to go but there are quest icons you can find on the minimap and such. Overall I am enjoying it and recommend it. When I play I try to post pics within a day or two so that the information I have is still fresh to be shared. Thanks for commenting.
That looks like fun, for a while... lol I can't wait until there's an immersive or augmented reality version of the game to match what was in the anime!
Same here!
I loved the TV show maybe I should look for the games
To continue the story of SAO play Hollow Fragment. For post Hollow Fragment there is Lost Song. Hollow Realization you start off at square 1, no continuation but with all the same people from the previous games and series. Its like the only game where you start at level 1.
