I was born in 1973. One of my earliest games was Elite, around 1985 on my ZX Spectrum, I basically only ever got about two jumps from the home system and the Thargoids
would pull me out of hyperspace, with my basic starter ship I was absolutely trashed in next to no time.
For the last 2 years I have been playing Elite: Dangerous, 30 plus years of life and computing power upgrades have lead to me being able to jump a few more systems before dying now :)
Wow that sounds amazing, I have never even heard of those games - I'll have to google a bit :D
Thanks for sharing!
Elite: Dangerous visually is spectacular, a flight simulator in space with a Milky Way galaxy with 400 Billion star systems, all different kinds of stars, planets and moons, you can even get a rover and drive around on planets, or once you get to larger ships launch your own fighter escorts.
There is only a very vague story, but after years of speculation, the Thargoids are back, just pray you dont meet one ;)
