LORE
The Nyne, a series of advanced AI, is all that remains of an ancient alien race that was once firmly seated in a place of power in the universe. They are now the architects of a massive spectacle of tournaments, used to amass wealth for the alien race that destroyed their civilization.
HISTORY
Define Human Studios was founded in 2015 with the goal of creating a new fast-paced science fiction shooter for the battle royale genre. After a successful Kickstarter campaign, co-founders Rob Logan and Jake Tolton set forth to become both developer and publisher of their interpretation of a new battle royale. During the phases of development, talented designers and developers have joined the ranks with past experience from working at companies such as Epic Games, Bioware, and Ubisoft. Islands of Nyne is a game cultivated from modest beginnings that has transformed into a serious contender in the battle royale market.
FEATURES
100 PLAYERS PER MATCH – kill, outrun, or consort your way to victory amongst 99 other players in timed matches that last up to 30 minutes. Match pace is set by a damage-inducing plasma field that is released from the perimeter of the map in stages, funnelling players into progressively tighter combat situations.
3 LARGE-SCALE MAPS – designed by a technologically superior alien race, each arena is engineered to provide a unique and obstacle-ridden battlefield for players, designed to reward strategic thinking and tactical decision making.
A FULL, COMPETITIVE RANKING SYSTEM – play against others at your skill level and win bigger payouts. Advance in rank, unlock special tier armour and distinguish yourself from the rest as an elite.
MULTIPLE GAME MODES – not everyone’s a lone wolf. Team up with a friend in Doubles mode or queue up as a team in 5-Man.
SKILL-BASED REWARDS – earn rare armour sets, weapon skins, game credits, and more depending on how long you can outlast the competition. Receive bonus items and unlock special achievements for actively engaging others or recording impressive stats.
PLAYER BETTING SYSTEM – use in-game credits to place bets on individual players or teams. Think your friend can finish in the top 10? Make things interesting and turn your faith in them into profit... or loss. Spend those hard-earned winnings on fancy armour pieces or weapon skin unlocks.
Ballistics
Ballistics in Islands of Nyne are semi-realism focused. Every weapon has its own projectile speed, travel time, bullet drop, and spread.
Combat
Combat, just like movement can be described as very "arcade". Combat is fast, fluid and relies very heavily on player skill, accuracy and cunning.
Pre-game and landing
Upon selecting your server and game-mode, you will be placed in a pre-game warm-up lobby. Players Familiar with Counter Strike's "Arms Race" game mode will be familiar with the model used here. Start with a pistol and eliminate two players to progress to the next weapon.
Once the lobby is full or the game countdown forces the match to start, you will be given a countdown and will be thrown into the arena. Players will be put into a freefall, with control over their direction of travel. Looking up permits you to glide further and cover larger distances, whereas looking straight down to drop you right below where you are falling. No Parachutes necessary, you'll be thrown to the ground with a superhero-esque fist smash unscathed.
Movement can be best described as "arcade". It's fast, responsive and isn't as heavily tied to realism as other Battle Royale games.. Upon moving around, players will quickly grasp the fluidity of the movement and aiming system in the game. There is no kind of acceleration or smoothing, all input is raw. This creates a smooth and responsive aiming axis and a lightning-fast movement platform.
Jumping is another prominent feature, which unlike a lot of games does include the ability to bunny-hop. This allows for quick rapid movements up in to the air while moving forward, making you a harder target to hit. It's worth nothing in Islands of Nyne your movement speed is not restricted or slowed down by jumping. You will always move at the base speed of the item you're carrying.
Players will find a myriad of weapons, modifiers and armor around the playable area to assist you in combat. From providing health boosts, to damage reduction, as well as attachments to improve your aim and provide bonuses to your weapon's handling characteristics. .
Players should take into account the range to a target, and the elevation to and from their target to provide as accurate a shot as possible to increase your chance of hitting a target and dealing damage.
Every weapon in Islands of Nyne has its own unique spray-pattern that is fully learn-able. Players can use the integrated Training room to brush up on their aiming and familiarise themselves with the weapons on offer.
