In the world of gaming, right now the biggest game is Fortnite. A lot of people play it, and a lot of people watch it being played. The problem is though, when people are playing Fortnite they're just doing the same thing over and over again, and when people watch Fortnite, they're just watching the same thing, over and over again. People may find it beneficial to actually get a different hobby, maybe even one that makes them think, as unusual a concept as that may seem, and to try doing a variety of different things.
Well, there's a difference between how they execute that same thing over and over (believe me, for any game when you don't play it, what players do might seem the same moves, but when you play you'll feel that every second is different.)... Though maybe some of them are just addicted.
Anyway, gaming industry is driven by what's popular rather than what's smart or innovative, every few months there'll be a new popular game, but soon people would want something different and they'll find it.
That's what I think though, I partly agree with you~
