As one year comes to a close, a new one begins and with it, new game releases.

We are only a few days into 2018 and there are not a lot of 'great' releases in January, but there are a few hidden gems that need to be looked at.

So here are 5 games For a January 2018 Release.

5 – Dissidia Final Fantasy NT.

PS4
Its a shame that this is only going to be a PS4 only game, yes there is also an arcade release from 2015, but who in the hell goes to arcades any more?
This game is a continuation from Dissidia Final Fantasy and Dissidia 012 Final Fantasy from the PlayStation Portable and is a port over from the arcade version that was released in Japan in 2015.
The game is a battle arena style game that includes some RPG gameplay in the mix, you choose from various characters found in the Final Fantasy franchise, and you essentially battle each other until there is one victor. Kind of like the old Battle Royal Films. Must be a Japanese thing. While the graphics look good, I can't help but wonder if there will be any bugs within the game as so many ports often do.
This would be a good game for someone who is a true fan of the franchise as it doesn't hold much appeal for everyone.

4 – Lost Sphere.

PC, PS4, Switch.
This game is more of a classic style RPG from the PlayStation 1 or SNES era of gaming but with fantastic art design.
The game has a air of nostalgia about it and it actually reminds me a lot of the old Final Fantasy 7 game on the PS1 and N64 respectively, with a mix of Zelda for good measure. The graphic design is very unique, beautifully done and overall looks like a very smooth gameplay experience.
The trailers just look amazing but until it is released, there isn't much more that can be said over than it looks beautiful.

3 – The Inpatient.

PS4 VR
If you like horror games or the horror genre in general, then you must buy this game when it comes out later this month.
This games looks spectacular with next gen graphics courtesy of the unreal engine 4 which seems to be the go to engine for most AAA titles. This is not your typical horror survival that you would have seen in the past but with the inclusion of VR makes the whole immersive experience all the more terrifying. Your character you play from a very real first person perspective is suffering from memory loss and is stuck in an asylum and you have to try a figure out what those memories were.
The game brings elements of psychological, jump and fear all into one game that will make you shit your already brown stained pants. I for one can not wait to get this game.

2 – Dragon Ball Fighter Z.

PC, PS4, Xbox One.
Dragon ball has a huge following in the world of anime, and this is the latest game in a very long list that goes back to the mid 80's to hold the Dragon ball title.
The game features many of the characters found in the anime and previous game titles, it is a 2.5D game meaning while the characters are 2D in their art style to match the Anime, the background and some foreground elements are all 3D.
The games has taken elements from other fighting games such as street fighter, mortal combat but more so Marvel Vs Capcom with the team mechanics and control system. It has been along time coming and true fans will like the fact that the same art style in the TV series has been brought over into the game. While it may not hit the right buttons for fans of fighting games, fans of the Show will love this little gem.

1 – Monster Hunter: World.

PC, PS4, Xbox One.
The Beta has been out for a short while now but the main game seems to have taken everything that made the Beta great and multiplied it by a thousand.
This game looks insane! Played in 3rd person, the RPG lets you explore a vast fantasy world full of Dragons that breath fire... as soon as I saw that clip in the trailer I was sold right there and then. The aim of the game, aside from developing your character is to go and kill or capture large 'Monsters' that roam about the wilderness, but it is the amount of detail in the game that is the most impressive and how the design and function of each monster is truly unique, from fire breathing dragons to giant creatures that can steem roll you over when they curl up into a giant ball of death.
This is the 5th Monster hunter game to be released and from the looks of it, they have taken everything that made the others great and melded them all into this one fantastic looking game.
