Before & After... How to make sure Your Setup Stays Clean & Looking AWESOME! - PC Tech - Part 19.

in #gaming7 years ago

Not many people have seen my personal setup, but from time to time, it can get very messy.

Because of the amount of upgrading I have done to my system in recent weeks, cable management is something of an after thought, and I haven't cleaned my desk off since I got my new mouse pad a couple of months ago. Disgusting I know, you don't want to know how much dust had accumulated.

So looking at it today, I decided to do some before and after pics to show you how easy it is to keep your setup looking clean.

As you can see, there are cables lying about, spare hard drives, spare power supplies, boxes behind the monitor and on the floor, the tower is hanging over the edge of the desk with both side panels off, and the dust is disgusting.

Looking under the desk, you can see the mess of wires, some of which are not even plugged in and not being used.

And a quick look at the shelf shows that I have basically thrown everything up there from collectables to random hardware.

So I set to work taking everything out, and placing it back in neat and tidy after a quick vacuum and dust off.
I started just organizing the cables in the tower a little better, gave it a quick blast of compressed air to clean out the fans and placed the side panels back on.

Under the desk, I pulled out the unused cables and placed them in the draw. The extension socket was mounted under the desk and off the floor, using twist wire, I tied all the cables to make them some what neat, and to keep them organised. No more crap on the floor.

The shelf, was cleaned up, I put all the small hardware in a box and stored it with the rest of the hardware that no longer works in the bin. After some rearranging, the shelf looks much cleaner, and dust free.

Looking at the setup as a whole, you can immediately see the difference. More room to move, no more cables all over the floor, just a nice, clean place to work and play.

Even though there wasn't actually much that needed cleaning, the results speak for themselves. So you have no excuse to be working or playing and a messy environment. Just some simple cable ties / twist wires, a vacuum and a dust is all you need to make your setup look so much better.

Thanks for reading.
