Curious to play World of Warcraft but you're too lazy to study thousands of pages full of terms you don't even know? You're not alone. Below we offer you a very direct little guide with the things that I would have liked to know 11 years ago, when I started playing this Blizzard online classic. Here you can get the best WoW Classic carry service.
A few previous notes
World of Warcraft is a game that requires a subscription. You can play for free until level 20, but then it will cost you around 13 euros per month. Worth? That only you can decide. There are very good free alternatives like Guild Wars 2, but if you want to try WoW, at least you can do it without having to scratch your pocket at first.
The game consists of three worlds: Azeroth, Draenor and Outland. The latter is the main stage and is divided into four large continents and numerous islands. Each continent is divided into several zones, as if they were provinces (The game informs you when you go from one to another). You can see them all in the complete internal map of the game (M key). As you explore, the milestones of each province will appear. Just exploring everything will take months.
How to move
Of course, you start on foot, and getting around is inexorably slow. At level 20 you can buy your first mount, and at level 40, the first flying mount. For this you will need a lot of gold, so go saving. Meanwhile, the most common way to get around is to use a network of flying mounts that are rented (literally, as if they were taxis) at map points marked with a winged boot. There are also ships to change the continent in some ports and teleportation portals in the main cities.
With or without friends
Although World of Warcraft is an online game, you don't need to go in with friends to play or to make it fun. You can play it perfectly alone, although there are areas where you will need other players. There are, so to speak, four game modes
Exploration: The initiates call it PvE (acronym for Player Vs Environment). It is about traveling the world talking with the different characters that populate it and solving the missions that pose you, which will often force you to travel more world and face all kinds of creatures. It is the basis to gain money and experience, and to obtain better objects.
Dungeons: There are certain areas of the game whose development follows a closed script. They are the dungeons. You will recognize them because to enter them you have to go through a kind of foggy portal.
Create a character
Starting to play is very simple, but there are some details to keep in mind:
Alliance or Horde: World of Warcraft tells the long rivalry between two factions led by orcs and humans respectively. Choosing one or the other is a purely aesthetic issue. Both are terribly fun to play, but eventually you'll end up developing more affection for one of the two. Choose the one you want, but don't forget to try the other one.
Race: The biggest difference between choosing one race or another is that they already position you in one or another faction. Each species has some modifiers that alter its initial statistics, but they are not very determining.
Professions
Apart from what you choose at the beginning, each character can choose between two main professions, and all the ones he wants secondary. The main ones are of two types: collection and manufacturing. Mining, for example, is a collecting profession that allows minerals to be obtained from veins throughout the game world. Blacksmithing allows forging useful objects with these minerals.
