Hello everyone, Piroct here. After a long break I come with a new review for a game that I didn't know even exist until last week. After my first playthrough I decided to write my thoughts about the game, hope you like it!

Deep Sky Derelicts is a turn based rogue-like with card-powered combat. You control three mercenaries who share a common goal: Explore wrecked and "abandoned" alien spaceships in search of important data to please a Burocrat so you can live comfortably under the roof of his colony. At the beginning of each campaign you can customize your party with different portraits and names, but most importantly, you can choose between 6 classes, each one having unique mechanics, to create a perfect mix that suits your playstyle.

This game is often compared to Darkest Dungeon and with good reasons, although it doesn't share a "stress" level difficulty it has a lot of similarities when it comes to the dungeon crawling mechanic, which consist in walking from room to room scanning in search of treasure, NPCs or monsters. There are some differences between Deep Sky Derelicts and Darkest Dungeon that compensates for not having that "Stress" mechanic, let me warn you about them:
• Every time you go into any spaceship (or dungeon) you'll have to be aware of the "energy bar" of your party which will deplete with every room you visit or every action you perform in combat. There's an item you can buy to restore energy inside dungeons but this "dungeons" are usually large and can take more than one run to explore completely and success in every side mission, so take it easy (Whatever you do, don't let the energy bar runs out, I lost my beloved party just because of 1 point of energy...).
• Although you can retreat from battle, monsters can pursue you and won't stop until you have wasted a lot of energy trying to escape from them. They can easily catch you and force you into battle again.
• Every character has two "life" bars, one is a shield bar and the other one is HP. When the shield bar runs out all incoming damage will affect the HP bar, and let me tell you, healing HP is expensive and even more reviving a character, so treat them with care.

So, like any other rogue-like games, you start with only basic equipment and the first thing that comes to mind is to grab every loot and equip every little thing you can wear, it's not different in Deep Sky Derelicts, but here the equipment has more into it than damage or armor rating. As I said before, this game has Card-Powered combat, every character has their own deck depending on their initial class and it will grow as you equip better and new equipment. Each equipment slot (Weapon, Tool, Shield, etc) has two slots of enhancements, which are little items that affect the main equipment, they add a new set of cards in addition to the ones that the main equipment provides. It's really fun mechanic and a really interesting one, spending time thinking and creating a good deck of cards for every character so they complement each other is something rewarding.

The Card-Powered combat isn't the only enjoyable thing, the artstyle and the music are really well made too... I'll let you take a look for yourself, that will describe things better!
Although this game doesn't have much to offer in the "Main Plot" department, it has lots of well-written side stories that are interesting and fun to read, they give you reasons to explore every spaceship completely and take risks while you're there. I was a little annoyed by the fact that the main plot wasn't more interesting but I remembered this is a Early Access game, so new content will come eventually to the game and maybe a good and well developed Main Plot.

If you like something about this game don't hesitate to try it and support the developers, although is in early access is a really fun and interesting game, one that will put your imagination and creativity to work with those deck building and party building mechanics. I'll leave the STEAM PAGE of the game so you can take a look!

See you soon, Steemians!
Looks like a really interesting game. I have never actually played darkest dungeon but I have watched some game play, it looks pretty good. I might have to actually pick this one up and give it a try, I love games with lots of customization. Thanks for the awesome review.
You should give it a try though. Darkest Dungeon can be a very stressful game but it's rewarding and fun to mess with. It's nice that our review got you interested, please enjoy and don't forget to follow~
