We Need board Games On The Blockchain

in #gaming7 years ago

I guess this is just a wish list but a geek can dream. I like playing board games digitally. There are a lot of advantages such as set-up and clean-up and it is a lot easier to learn the rules of a game when they are monitored for you. You can also learn strategy as you take on the computer and learn how to use the game. Board games are a little less intensive than other games and could be great on the blockchain. We are already seeing poker and other casino games so why not Battleship. Here are some I would like to see.

Risk:

I could play this for hours. Sure it is not the most friendly of games but as long as you can handle losing your border bonus to some random guy attacking you it is a lot of fun online. A blockchain version doesn't need to come with any perks, just the ability to play in tournaments and get rewarded for being on a leaderboard.

Monopoly:

Another great pick up and play game. You could even design player pieces that people can collect and trade. Monopoly is a great game with little skill and is easy to pick up by anyone. A blockchain version would be a fun way to pass some time as you work online.

Pandemic

A great team game that has you work against the game to cure a disease. There are very few games where everyone is on the same team and this is an excellent one. Working together to save the world and win some steem would be great.

What do you think, what board game would you like to see?

Hello @whatageek i would totally love to see several board games! I m down with you on monopoly and risk would be incredible. But also easier games would be fun like checkers, and backgammon, surely chess would find a lot of admirers. I was a big fan of the settlers of catan when i was young and still playing board games with my family...good times

Catan is a classic. Haven't thought about it in a long time :)

Oh yes Catan, moving the thief to steal from someone, really upsets people & the card that takes away all the one type of resource is the best dick move of them all.

Catan is a good one for online and blockchain.

Sure, when I played against the computer, it is basically 3 vs 1, which is a joke!

I hope someone pick this idea up. I also would like to see some card games like Sevens or Bridge. :)

Those would be easier to do and no license problems.

I really like this idea! I enjoy playing board games digitally as well (Boardgame arena ftw!) Monopoly with SBD would be brutal!! haha Or UNO. Can you imagine that?

SteemGar is a fun way to earn Steem. Looking forward to other games to be played for Steem. Let the fun times roll.

Wouldn't it be cool to play monopoly for crypto? As in the winner get's a stake in the pot at the end of the game. It would add that element of reality to it where you have a real stake in the outcome of the game.

Good ol' Chess would be great, earn steem as you become a grandmaster :)) Miss playing Monopoly..

Would love to see Monopoly tied to to winning actual Steem. We've been playing Catan and Castle Panic like crazy. But I'd love to see chess on the block chain.

Hmmm I don’t really do board games but I’d love to be part of this monopoly game. Sounds interesting to me

OH MY GOD

Monopoly would be the best thing ever.

with SBD.

Like 4 player game

everyone for example puts in 10 SBD

so the pot is 40 sbd
the winner takes like 25sbd
2nd place takes 15sbd
3rd and 4th lose

This would be the best thing ever

Also the GAME OF LIFE
would be cool also

Yeah I totally agree with you my friend, the best games are yet to begin and when it does. We’d all smile

The Game Of Life is a great pick.

Awesome idea, and in my opinion the gaming idea on Steem Blockchain can attract more people because most of the people are associated with gaming and literally the gaming stuff is like an addiction, and if i will have options out of these then i will choose monopoly. Let's hope that these inputs are taken into consideration by the developers. Thanks for sharing and wishing you an great day. Stay blessed. 🙂

Board game on the Blockchain sounds fun. But I wonder how the reward system would be

Oh yeah, good idea, how about a solitaire, steem based reward system :)

Hell yeah! If 7 Wonders had a blockchain app to play with the world I would spend all day on it. Also, Magic the Gathering/Hearthstone would likely be a popular game on such a service.

It’s funny how you mention highly competitive games like ‘risk’ and ‘monopoly’ and then mention a team game like ‘pandemic’ which nearly balances out. The competitive games are really cut throat and cause a lot of conflict and friendships have been ruined over them, haha. That’s not to say I don’t like them, hehe.

Risk is a really fun game, when two players go all in on one country and both end up with no bonus reward it is really funny. The used to LOVE playing SC II and RTS game with a UMS for risk, it really hyper accelerated the game. I had an after thought while playing, it would come down to evenly distributed territory while no one made a move to attack someone, otherwise someone would attack them, that would make it nearly identical to our map today.

There would also be proxy wars, where one player said not to touch another player otherwise they would attack, good times indeed.

Monopoly is all about greed, I find most players don’t want to make a deal with someone unless it screws them over, in the real game of monopoly, the banks own everything and have all the money, it would be interesting with crypto in the mix.

I have not played pandemic, so there you go, learnt something about something everyday. ;)

I'd vote for Heroquest. ! was the best gateway into Role-playing games. but you couldn't paint all the figures tho.

well if something like parsec or nova blitz is able to be done on the blockchain i am certain that board games can be done as well :)

I've actually been working on my own boardgame for a few years but I've hit a brick wall in terms of completing it, need artists and to help out mainly but maybe I could do something like this, I was thinking of setting it up on roll20 to see how it goes but I don't know... if there's a future in blockchain tabletopping I would be interested... although I would have no idea how to do this haha

You knew that one of the most surprising curiosities is that the longest Monopoly game in history lasted 70 days in a row.
