IT'S IN THE BLOOD

Video gaming runs in my blood. It's in my veins, flowing and natural. Backed up by history, i came to being at the dawn of the Video Game Crash of 1983. I was somehow destined to be a gamer. For almost 3 decades now, from the mid years of Atari to the early years of NES, i found myself enthralled by the videogame world. It evolved exponentially, on the wee days of playing side by side with my brother @onairpic-horux, fast forward to this immense online gaming community, we are at the peak of the Massively Multiplayer Online Gaming era.

DO YOU EVEN UNDERSTAND?

Gone were the days of sitting all alone in your couch or in your room, focused on surviving the onslaught of the boss and moving on the next level, reassuring yourself "You can do this, overcome that jumping turtle and save your girl. ;) Things are a lil bit different nowadays, we are almost connected to the internet 24/7, and as technology progresses by, the videogame world is better enjoyed online. The vast online world took gaming by storm, and a new language has emerged with it.

Here are the 4 most infamous terms we gamers use, according to my experience, with a bit of history behind them:

GL HF - "Good Luck, Have Fun"

Usually said before a match starts, or after a good item trade, GL HF is a polite and succinct way to say, "Enjoy the Game". Back in Starcraft 1, people used to say, GL HF DD, DD means Don't Die was dropped eventually.

GG - "Good Game"

A remark spoken after the end of a round or match which basically means it was a good game, a fairly enjoyable one. It can also be used as an insult if added with a derogatory mark afterwards like, GG EZ - EZ a slang of the word easy, indirectly saying "i'm too good" or you are so bad at the game. A more courteous way to say it is to add WP after GG, "Good Game, Well Played".

OP - "Overpowered"

A term used when a person becomes way to powerful in any circumstance, whether he/she is really gifted or is playing very well. Another gaming lingo known as "IMBA - Imbalanced" is more appropriately used in regards to an item or an in-game subject. But both can be used hand in hand, no matter what context.

REKT - "Wrecked"

When someone gets destroyed or annihilated, adding insult to injury, type REKT. User discretion is advised. LOL. :D

That's all for today folks! There are plethora of gaming words to be shared with you all, but i better stick to the widely used terminologies first before we seek to learn the others. If you'll be kind enough to follow me for more random facts, please do! Til the next episode my fellow steemians! GL HF! ;)

Very rare to meet another person who played Atari. Do you remember what game you played on the console? I remember mine was a spaceship shooter.

Definitely loved space invaders, pong, breakout and of course, centipede! :)
