RE: Gaming History: Broken Sword The Shadow of the Templars “Happy Birthday to a masterpiece of gaming”

in #gaming7 years ago

I am a little ashamed to say that I got to know Broken Sword through the demo of the second episode (I believe it was the scene at the docks). Needless to say, I loved it, and I eventually played all of them. As you've said, it's proof that a game can look good, be funny and have great story and dialogues. Not my favorite point & click of all times, but almost there at the top I'd say, and when you think of the amount of games that tried to copy it (either by style, or by writing similar stories with Templars and stuff) and failed, it says a lot about its quality.

I still have to play the latest installment (BS 5), but I'm a little afraid that I won't like it, seeing the episodic structure and all. I hated monkey island 5 and I'm afraid the same will happen with this one. Do you think I should give it a try?

Sort:

It's not really episodic, it's more like they split it up in two parts. I don't think that you'll hate it, but it was a bit underwhelming. You sort of expected it to be, well, more, grander, larger. But considering it didn't have a gigantic budget, it's fine.
