Thankfully the sun is out today. Really nice to see our old friend shining bright. It's been about 2 maybe 3 weeks since I've treated the backyard with anything as far as a foiler spray. There are aphids attacking mainly the weaker plants however they are becoming desperate and attacking the new growth on the healthier plants especially the big broccoli. The temperatures are warming slightly and it's a matter of time before we're in the 70s again. I need to go get some safer insecticidal soap which is approved for organic farming and I also need to in the near future get some nematodes for the soil. It's been a little too cold and wet back here to have continued my weekly treatments of humic acid and fish and calcium. Other than the aphids the plants have been doing great despite all that cold temperatures wind and lack of sun. I cannot wait for the nectarine tree to start shooting off it's purpleish pink flowers.

Is this your garden and are you seeding off your broccoli or???
Brocolli is growing like crazy! Sure do! We are hoping for huge brocolli trees this year! And yes this is our garden.
Can I give a tip on broccoli. when it starts out it gives one head out in the middle main stock. After you have harvested it starts to flower when those shoots come out cut them off before they flower. then a new head will grow where you have cut or pinched it off. You want to keep it from flowering and you will have broccoli until the snow flies. They will be small but very delicious and many. The more you keep it from flowering the more broccoli you will have. If it is still growing now I bet if you cut all the flowering off you still can get heads to grow. Broccoli is a vary hearty plant it likes the sun but it likes cool ground. I would plant 4-5 broccoli plants, the first head will be the biggest and every two to three days I would have another batch for the whole season, they flower after you pick, if you keep picking the flower off the more broccoli you will have.I have had broccoli stocks three to four inches in diameter. Happy growing
Great advice thank you!
