I found many of this variety at a sacred canyon on the North Shore. Many varieties and they tend to accommodate mosquitoes very well. The surface is very durable and has a wax feel to it. Each part is really a cup that can hold rain forest water. All natural lighting.
Beautiful! I’ve never seen this tropical plant. Does that mean you got bit by mosquitoes while taking your photos?
Thanks. These are in the family of Heliconia, also popularly known as lobster-claw, wild plantain or false bird-of- paradise. Yes I did! They love to nest in the little cups.
Great photo.
Thank you!
