Wonderful, I can imagine the feeling when it's harvest time:-) Ginger is really cool, what is the climate where you live? Warm summers or? I have not even thought about the possibility to plant them myself.

I live in SouthEast US. Hot long summers. If you start them in a pot indoors and plant out after the last frost you will have some root growth by the cold of winter. Young ginger has almost no outer peel like store bought ginger. It isn't as self -stable but can be frozen or dehydrated!
