What's going on at home
The black raspberries are beginning to fruit, although there's a long time left until they're ready to harvest.
We built a fence so the chickens can troll around in the woods behind their coop (the garage)
We got a kitten - Maude. She's about eight weeks old now, and doing quite well. She was shy on day one, but has since become very adventurous. She lives in the laundry room, where the dog can't kill her and she can't dander up the house. Husband is allergic, but he ventures into the laundry room at intervals to love on her. Once she's a little bigger, we'll start putting her in the garage at night; she's going to be our pest control for the chickens.
One of our four tomato plants is muscling through; the others are still spindlier than this. We don't know if we'll get harvest from them, but we sure hope so!
The beans and snap peas are faring better than the sunflowers did. The critters seem a bit less interested in the seedlings for some reason. we had to resow the sunflowers, which are going to be too small for the climbers to grow onto at this rate.
These are a locally developed strain of green bean we bought from the co-op. We will put up something for them to climb on this week.
About half of the zucchinis and cucumbers look AWESOME. We obviously didn't put too much work into preparing the soil for them, but we'll do better next spring. Even so, I think we'll have an abundance pretty soon, here. I hope the cucumbers turn out, especially, because Husband said he'd pickle them, and he seems to have a knack for that!
